Oh man, I forgot to pick up a book I had on hold when I was at the university library tonight and said to my hubby a minute ago, "I'll just go early tomorrow morning and pick it up." Thought I'd better check the hours since it's summer after all. The hours are certainly good for a chuckle:

So much for going there early tomorrow morning...heh heh.
I just found out today that Brock University only mails out tuition bills a month after tuition is due and they charge a $9 service charge the day after the bill is mailed out. Here's what they had to say for themselves:
The $9 charge on your statement is an interest charge for late
payment. Spring courses were due on April 27th. Please note that
statements are not mailed out on a monthly basis, and students are
responsible for their account even if no statement is received. You
can always check your information by going to the Brock web-site, go
to student self-serve and then click on your finance history.
How convenient for them. Thank goodness other businesses don't operate this way. The thing that really irks me is that it didn't used to be that way; used to be that the tuition bill came, I paid it, and all was well. You'd think they were going broke or something the way they gouge us. Sheesh.
Well, I had a fantastic afternoon...Jack Layton (leader of Canada's NDP) came to Brock to speak. He was a fantastic speaker and so much of what he said resonated with me. I'm so happy I got to hear him, oh, and also to meet him personally afterwards!! One other person and I were waiting with books in tow for Layton to sign, so his assistant made sure he came to us after speaking to the media. One warm handshake, an introduction, and an autograph later, I left--one happy gal. : )
